i’m reading “the agency” by frank rose. it’s about the william morris agency and it mentions early on about the freak shows in new york in the late 1800s, early 1900s. one “freak” in particular, “the skeleton dude,” made me giggle so i looked him up. his name was john coffey. it’s crazy. old freak shows are ridiculously interesting, to say the least.
